He was Lecturer in Economics at the University of Warwick from 1995 to 2000. Then, he joined the University of Milan, where he held positions as Lecturer (2000-2001) and Associate Professor of Public Economics (2001-2005). He was Director of the Ph.D. program in Economics of the University of Milan (2008-2015), and a member of the steering committee of the Doctorate in Economics and Finance of the Public Administration (DEFAP) of the Catholic University of Milan, University of Milan-Bicocca and University of Milan (2003-2010). His current research interests are in public economics, with a special focus on taxation and fiscal policy, and labour economics, with a special focus on the effects of trade integration on labour market institutions.
